The Atlas Core (also known as Atlas Sky Core, Ship Core, and Core) is a vital component for airship design. This device allows a ship to effortlessly float in the air, counteracting the pull of gravity.

Description[edit | edit source]

A cylindrical object with a wide, rectangular base. Its diameter tapers off towards the top, ending in a domed hollow where an Atlas Stone can be seen through an open port. When active, arcs of electricity can be seen permeating the Atlas stone within, giving off a faint glow.

Usage[edit | edit source]

Atlas Sky Cores provide a lifting force to keep ships neutrally buoyant in the air. However, an Atlas Sky Core by itself by default can support 1000kg (more if proper materials were used). For larger or heavier ships, Atlas Core upgrades are needed which can be found as schematics or as whole components on wrecked ships. The core also imparts torque[1] on the ship, allowing it to turn in place without the need for engines or wings. This torque effect is not strong enough to overcome uneven engine placement.

Currently, Atlas Sky Cores require no fuel. They appear to be "always on". As long as they are installed, they will continue to provide a lifting force for the ship. Cores can be placed either right-side-up on any deck, or upside-down hanging from a deck's ceiling. Presently, the placement of cores does not affect how the ship floats or keeps balanced. In the future, an exclusion radius may be implemented[2] to prevent players from bunching up the core in one well protected area deep within the ship. The Atlas Pulse can be activated by interacting with the Core, detaching any grapplers or players climbing on your ship, which consumes one Atlas Shard.

Crafting[edit | edit source]

Atlas cores and each of the upgrades can be crafted at an Assembly Station.

Lore[edit | edit source]

Atlas Stones by themselves do not have levitating properties[3]. Instead, passing an electrical current through it generates the effect[4]. This is why the Atlas Core apparatus is required.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

Use conductive metals in all Atlas internal parts, where the word "conductive" or similar is used, to increase their strength. Use Copper, silver or gold for varying boosts. The tool tip is a bit vague though between copper and silver, also consider the additional weight a metal will add.
